Ellerslie Walk

On Monday Room 22 went for a long Ellerslie walk because we are studying Ellerslie, Our Place. We walked to Christ Church. John and Megan got married. Vicar Chris showed us the font and pews. He had an old scruffy dog called Father Ted. Father Ted was a friendly dog. Vicar Chris showed us the beautiful coloured glass windows. Then we moved on to the Ellerslie Town Square where the War Memorial Hall is. There is also the water fountain there. Also we looked at the MacKenzie building. That is where the old chemist was. The medicine was for animals and people. We all had an exciting time.                           By Chyanne

Yesterday my class and I went around some of Ellerslie to see how the buildings were like in the past. I learnt that the Squash centre used to be a big old movie theatre and to make Ellerslie a really nice they built a lovely little water fountain. After walking around a bit of Ellerslie we went to a small church called Christ church – not the place Christchurch. In Christ  church we met a vicar named Chris.. He taught us about the small church and how long it stayed for. We learnt three or four new words and that there was a fire on the roof, but it was before we were born. The church lived over a hundred years! It was so funny when Megan and John got married but it was fake. I learnt a lot of details about Ellerslie.                              By Ann Mary
