Room 17 Term Two

  Term 2 in Room 17

This term we have been very busy in Room 17.  Autumn
We started the term off looking at Autumn and created these lovely Autumn tree pictures.  We first traced around our arms for the branches and trunk shape then we finger printed Autumn colours onto the branches to create a leafy effect.We then used crayon and dye to create a cool-looking background suitable for the change in weather at this time of year.

The Gingerbread Man
We have been studying the wonderful story of The Gingerbread Man.  We have read stories and poems about The Gingerbread Man and we retold the story at Story Writing time.  We are now practising a play about the story in groups.  We will perform these to the rest of Team 2 and our teachers will record us on the video so we can see how we did!Mrs McLeod also helped us to bake our own gingerbread men.  It was lots of fun and they were very yummy!

Shared Reading
This term we have read a couple of wonderful big books in class.  We have read Brave Mouse and Hullabaloo at the Zoo both by Jill Eggleton.  In Brave Mouse we looked at the main character and came up with words to describe Brave Mouse.  We learnt that these words are called adjectives.In Hullabaloo at the Zoo we talked about what the setting and plot of the story was.  We learnt that the setting is where the story happens and the plot is what happens in the story.  Check out our wonderful wall display about these story elements.
