Introducing Our Peer Mediators to the New Entrant Class Last week we went to a new entrant class to introduce ourselves and tell the kids the job we do in the playground each day.

We showed them our  Peer Mediation uniform – a green sash and black duty bag. We showed them the Gotcha Stickers and explained how they could get one. The gotcha stickers are for people who we see are playing nicely, being a good friend and helping out others.

There are a few peer mediators,( 4 actually) around the school some on the field and on the courts every day at morning tea and lunch time.

So if there’s a problem; like your friend has hurt herself or if someone’s being mean to you just look for a person with a green sash and will help you with your problem.

The Day in the Life of a Peer MediatorA Peer Mediators job is really important because they help kids solve their problems. Here are 3 things that Peer Mediator do before they go on duty.

First: The Peer Mediator checks the time table.

Second: If it’s their duty day they grab a sash.

Third: They head down to their designated area.

Peer Mediators observed you doing the right thing they will give a Gotcha sticker to you. Peer Mediators have to be really gentle to little kids because the kids are quite shy. We are always looking for opportunities to help you out!
