We have BIG and EXCITING plans! In the April school holidays our new playground will be installed. This new playground will replace the current junior one and will be situated on the same site. This playground is part of a staged plan that began eighteen months ago to enhance the play spaces at Ellerslie School, which has included the following projects to date: sandpit installation, Acorn Patch development, new play space adjacent to the Miro Pod. At a later stage we plan to have a new junior one installed and the senior installation redeveloped. In addition, we are also adding some new musical equipment (large scale instruments) to the Acorn Patch.
JUNIOR SUNSHADE INSTALLATION
We have lots of property projects on the go and are delighted to announce that the order for 3x shade shade installations has been actioned this week for the area adjacent to the Miro and Rimu Pods. The foundations for these sun shades are scheduled to be constructed in the April holidays and delivery of the sun shade ‘sails’ is expected shortly after this.
BUT WAIT… there’s more! Our new school Library project has commenced and we will begin the process of the selection of a designer/Architect shortly. We have earmarked one of the Heritage Block classrooms for this space and believe this will be perfect with it’s high ceiling, period features and beautiful windows and light.
A school Library is a special place - children will be encouraged to develop a love of books and reading for pleasure. For those families that have been at Ellerslie School for a number of years, it has been acutely missed since it’s redevelopment into classroom spaces to accommodate the roll growth a number of years ago and we are pleased to see it’s reinstatement. We are planning for the Library to be a place where children can respond to their curiosity and wonderings about the world while cultivating research and inquiry skills.
Our goal is to be able to use our new Library for the beginning of 2020.
